Roles & Responsibilities • Provide compassionate, hands-on care to elderly residents, assisting with activities of daily living • Monitor and record vital signs and resident conditions accurately and promptly • Assist with mobility, transfers, and safe use of assistive devices • Support medication reminders and follow care plans as directed by clinical staff • Maintain clean, safe, and comfortable resident environments • Communicate with families and the care team about resident needs and changes • Document care activities and observations clearly in resident records • Contribute to a positive, respectful atmosphere that supports resident dignity
Qualifications • Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in good standing • Experience working with older adults or in long-term care is preferred • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willing to obtain • Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings • Comfortable with physical aspects of care and transferring residents • Clear background check and ability to work in a healthcare setting • Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach
Education • GNA certification required • High school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge & Skills • Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident hygiene needs • Skill in taking and recording vital signs accurately • Familiarity with infection control and safe care practices • Ability to follow care plans and communicate changes to nursing staff • Teamwork mindset and professional bedside manner • Basic charting and documentation skills
