Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD Contract Type: Per-Diem Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM day shift Hours per Week: 40
Roles & Responsibilities • Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming to preserve dignity and comfort • Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper techniques to prevent injury • Take and record vital signs and observe for changes in resident condition • Provide compassionate personal care and companionship to foster resident wellbeing • Document care accurately and communicate observations to the nursing team • Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
Qualifications • Valid GNA certification or completion of an approved GNA program • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain • Comfortable working with geriatric and long-term care populations • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset • Ability to pass a background check and required health screenings
Education • High school diploma or GED and completion of a GNA training program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills • Knowledge of geriatric care principles and respectful elder care • Proficiency with vital signs monitoring and basic resident assessments • Safe resident handling and mobility assistance techniques • Familiarity with infection control and hygiene best practices • Ability to document care clearly and follow care plans • Teamwork and effective communication with residents and staff
