Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Roles & Responsibilities • Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, helping with daily living activities with dignity and respect • Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility support, ensuring safety at all times • Monitor and report vital signs and any changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly • Document care accurately and timely to maintain continuity and quality of care • Support mealtime assistance and monitor nutrition and hydration needs • Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to create a warm, safe environment • Follow infection control practices and facility policies to protect residents and coworkers • Build trusting relationships with residents and families through clear, compassionate communication
Qualifications • Current GNA certification (required) • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) • CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain • Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus • Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required health screenings • Strong communication skills, empathy, and a team-oriented attitude
Education • High school diploma or equivalent • GNA certification
Knowledge & Skills • Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related conditions • Skilled in assisting with ADLs (activities of daily living) • Comfortable taking and recording vital signs accurately • Knowledge of safe patient handling and transfer techniques • Familiarity with basic infection control practices • Good documentation habits and attention to detail
