Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift) - days of week not specified
Hours per Week: 40

Roles & Responsibilities
• Assist residents with daily living activities — bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Provide compassionate, person-centered care that preserves dignity
• Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team
• Support mealtime assistance and feeding as needed with patience and respect
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols
• Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with the team
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through attentive care

Qualifications
• GNA certification (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working with geriatric populations and assisting with ADLs
• Demonstrated ability to follow care plans and communicate observations
• Compassionate attitude, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings

Education
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required

Knowledge & Skills
• Understanding of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
• Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Basic infection control and safety procedures
• Charting and clear communication with interdisciplinary teams
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced care environment
• Empathy, patience, and strong observational skills
