Occupational Therapist - Acute Care
Location: Santa Rosa, CA Start Date: 04-06-2026 End Date: 07-06-2026 Contract Type: Travel Contract Shift Type: Tuesday-Saturday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Day shift, 5x8) Hours per Week: 40
Roles & Responsibilities • Perform thorough assessments and create individualized plans of care that restore function and independence • Deliver skilled manual therapy and hand therapy interventions to improve patient outcomes • Assess and train patients in activities of daily living and adaptive equipment use • Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity of care • Conduct reassessments and modify treatment plans based on progress and interdisciplinary input • Educate patients and families to support safe transitions and long-term recovery • Participate in unit-based teamwork, including collaboration with PT, respiratory, pharmacy, social services and more • Support fall/risk assessments and infection prevention protocols to keep patients safe
Qualifications • Active state Occupational Therapy license required (pending license not accepted) • Minimum 1 year acute care or acute rehabilitation experience preferred • Certifications in Manual Therapy and Hand Therapy required or strongly preferred • BLS preferred (or willing to obtain quickly) • Proven experience charting in Epic or comparable electronic medical records • Comfort floating between similar units and adapting to patient mix • Ability to work the posted schedule (Tuesday through Saturday) and meet orientation requirements
Education • Degree in Occupational Therapy (OTR) from an accredited program • Active state OT licensure required
Knowledge & Skills • Skilled in assessment, evaluation, discharge planning, and plan of care development • Proficient with ADL training, adaptive equipment assessment (pediatric & adult) and FIM scoring • Experience with hand therapy, splinting (static/functional/dynamic) and soft tissue techniques • Familiarity with modalities such as electrical stimulation, edema massage, and biofeedback • Competence in billing/documentation best practices for acute care • Strong patient/family education, safety/injury prevention, and lifting/transfer skills • Knowledge of fall/risk assessment and infection prevention procedures
