483 Bed Main Campus. # of beds on unit: 14. 1:6 for both days and nights. 2 years of experience required in specialty. Patient population includes: diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis (they have a dialysis nurse), some overflow post surgicals, amputations, debridments, wound care, DVTs, ETOH, psych (in future may have hospice-not live yet). Medications: Lasix, Bumex and Heparin. Monitored on different unit. Nurses not required to read strips. Charge Nurse does not take a patient assignment, will take only if needed. CNA's 1:12 generally, do get pulled for 1:1 and sitters (Do try to have 1-8). Equipment: cpap, only night for bipap. Shift times: 6:45-7:15, all 12 hour. Every Other Weekend. Rotate with permanent staff. Floating: Yes, to all acute care and cardio to take care of medical, or EC for acute care patient holds. Dress code: Caribbean Blue top and bottom OR White top and Caribbean Blue bottom OR all white top/bottom. 3 days. Need to have experience with same type of hospital acuity, no CAH. Need experience at a larger organization with high acuity, high turnover and fast pace. Need to take patient satisfaction and quality of care seriously. Patient safety is very important. Primary Care Nursing. No bags at the nurses station, can bring a lock for locker; strict attendance policy. Nails can ONLY BE POLISHED. NO artificial or Shellac nails due to increased CLABSI rates.
