General job duties. Types of procedures required. Assess, plan & implement patient care & treatment. Demonstrates responsibility, accountability, prioritization, organization and good communication & respect with co-workers. Identifies problems & offers appropriate solutions.
Equipment utilized in the unit/dept.: • EPIC. • We use Plum IV pumps & Plum PCAs.
Required skills and minimum years of experience: • 2 years minimum med-surg or stroke/neuro experience preferred.
Shift or schedule requirements: • There will always be 2 nurses working ( shifts-Days or Nights). • On call on Stroke unit is very rare. • Some rotating weekends may be required.
Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.: • 8 bed Stroke unit
Nurse to patient ratio of this unit: • 1:4
Dress Code: • Navy blue uniforms
Unit/department specific training and orientation program: • Stroke/Neuro unit is similar to any general med-surg unit. • We also get some surgical patients and a variety of acute care patients when we have beds available-not taken by stroke/neuro patients. • You would be assigned to a preceptor for about a week to familiarize you with where to find things on the unit, unit processes, routines.
