Roles & Responsibilities • Provide high-quality nursing care for patients at the medical step-down level, ensuring safety and dignity at every shift • Perform ongoing patient assessments and promptly escalate changes in condition to the interdisciplinary team • Administer medications, IV therapies, and advanced cardiac life support interventions per policies • Use critical thinking to manage telemetry, complex monitoring, and step-down-specific interventions • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, social work and ancillary staff to coordinate patient-centered care • Document accurate, timely clinical information in the electronic health record and communicate handoffs clearly • Participate in holiday and weekend rotations to ensure continuous, excellent patient coverage
Qualifications • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Ohio (required) • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (medical step-down experience strongly preferred) • Current BLS (American Heart Association) — AHA only (required) • Current ACLS (American Heart Association) — AHA only (required) • Comfort with telemetry, IV therapies, and managing higher-acuity medical-surgical patients • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
Education • BSN preferred (preferred, Magnet-recognized certification a plus)
Knowledge & Skills • Strong assessment skills for patients transitioning between ICU and med-surg levels • Proficiency with cardiac monitoring/telemetry and recognition of arrhythmias • Excellent clinical judgement, prioritization and time management under pressure • Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff • Familiarity with electronic health record documentation and safe medication administration • Patient education and discharge planning skills
