Roles & Responsibilities • Manage critically ill adult patients in a Cardiac Medical ICU setting with focus and compassion • Provide advanced ventilator management and respiratory care, including HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator adjustments • Perform hemodynamic monitoring and manage arterial lines, central lines, and PICCs • Administer blood products and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips safely and accurately • Operate and manage CRRT/CVVHD and other renal support therapies as needed • Respond to cardiac emergencies, interpret dysrhythmias and initiate appropriate interventions • Document care thoroughly and efficiently using EPIC to maintain high quality patient records • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, PT, and rapid response teams to optimize patient outcomes • Support post-procedural care for cardiac interventions, including IABP and Impella management • Educate patients and families about condition, care plans and safe discharge practices
Qualifications • Registered Nurse license as required by state of practice • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required • EPIC experience required • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS and NIHSS, AHA certifications only • Competency in IV starts, arterial line management, central line care and blood product administration • Comfort and experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring • Ability and willingness to float to other units within the OSU organization as needed
Education • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
Knowledge & Skills • Expertise in ventilator management and care of mechanically ventilated patients • Proficient with IV therapy, IV starts and PICC line management • Skilled in arterial line and central line care and monitoring • Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and renal support therapies • Strong cardiac monitoring skills and dysrhythmia interpretation • Familiarity with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) and Impella care • Ability to manage vasoactive drips and continuous IV sedation • Comfortable using EPIC for documentation and charting • Infection prevention, isolation precautions and phlebotomy skills • Excellent critical thinking, emergency response and teamwork abilities
