Roles & Responsibilities • Provide direct and indirect nursing care to psychiatric inpatients, ensuring safety and therapeutic support • Develop, implement, and document individualized nursing goals and interventions as part of the treatment team • Serve as charge nurse when scheduled — coordinate care, delegate tasks, and keep the unit running smoothly • Float between units as needed to meet patient care demands and support staffing coverage • Apply trauma-informed, recovery-oriented nursing practices and maintain professional boundaries • Manage crisis situations using de-escalation and restraint reduction techniques when appropriate • Use the Electronic Medical Record to accurately document care, treatments, and patient progress • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to support comprehensive patient treatment plans
Qualifications • Current Massachusetts RN license required at time of submission • Minimum one year of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience required • Willingness to float between units and perform charge nurse duties when assigned • CPR certification required • Experience with restraint reduction, de-escalation, and crisis intervention preferred • Comfortable with Electronic Medical Record documentation and basic typing/computer skills • Strong critical thinking, time management, delegation, and team-building abilities
Knowledge & Skills • Inpatient psychiatric nursing and crisis intervention / de-escalation expertise • Trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented treatment approaches • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records and clinical documentation • Therapeutic relationship development while maintaining professional boundaries • Behavioral health and co-occurring substance use treatment modalities • Ability to manage stressful situations calmly and organize priorities under pressure • Effective oral and written communication, coaching, and delegation skills
