Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)
Call-Ins: 1) If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, the traveler is expected to make up the day during the pay period, if a 0.9 FTE. 2) If a 0.9 FTE and unable to make up during the pay period, then the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract. 3) If a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract.
Locals: NOT accepted.
Weekends: Travelers are expected to work every other week per their contract. Pending operational needs, consecutive weekends may be needed based on the greatest need.
Charge coverage: Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources.
IU Health University and Methodist are teaching facilities and require all travel nurses to agree to the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow them while on assignment. Please only submit candidates that are okay with these requirements.
Certification Requirements: ACLS and BLCS
Skillset Requirements: Minimum 2 Year Experience; Will consider MedSurg RN with ICU and PCU patient experience with an additional two years.
Floating Requirements: Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist Hospitals
Staffing Ratios: PCU assignments are 1:4 and MedSurg assignments are 1:5-6, sometimes due to the skill set of the resource staff we receive, we may mix our MedSurg and PCU patients in an assignment of 4-5 patients as well.
Unit Information: 32 bed, mixed model unit. 15 of our beds are PCU, and 17 are Medsurg. We are a cardio-pulmonary unit, with an emphasis on pulmonary. Our primary patient population is cardiac medical, valve replacement (cardiac and pulmonary), COPD, CHF, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, lung transplant (pre and post), trach-to-vent, neurodegenerative diseases requiring trach-to-vent, trauma (cervical spinal fx) requiring trach-to-vent, flu, TB, and COVID19 (only 3 on unit currently).
Effective 9/1, the COVID vaccine is required for all travelers at IU Health campuses. Declinations will not be accepted; however medical or religious exemptions will be accepted with a doctor's note provided. Effective 11/30/24, IU Health will not allow IN RNs to work at their facilities (SEE EXCEPTIONS BELOW).
**Periop/OR RNs, Allied and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from this rule. These IN travelers are allowed to work past the 11/30 deadline. Periop includes ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS**

Additional Unit Information • Interdisciplinary Support : - • Patient Diagnoses : 26 bed, mixed acuity unit. 15 of our beds are PCU, and 11 are Medsurg. We are an advanced pulmonary unit. Our primary patient population includes COPD, CHF, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, lung transplant (pre and post), tuberculosis, tracheostomies (including fresh tracheostomies), and stable trach-to-ventilator patients. The acuity on this unit is very high. • Special Procedures/Unit Details : 2 years PCU experience preferred • Travelers will be placed into the floating rotation as the rest of the staff. • Charge experience or willingness to train as charge is required. • Staffing Ratios:PCU assignments are 1:4 and MedSurg assignments are 1:5-6, sometimes due to the skill set of the resource staff we receive, we may mix our MedSurg and PCU patients in an assignment of 4-5 patients as well. • Special Equipment : Special Procedures/Unit Details:We have stable trach/vents in our PCU rooms. We are a mixed model unit and have 11 Med Surg beds (no vents in these beds) and 15 PCU beds where we can have vents.

#Tier2 Travel Compliance • Travelers University must be accredited by the ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation. • RTO we can auto-approve 5 days of non holiday RTO or less. Anything more requires facility approval. • Candidate MUST WORK 2 out of 3 major holidays. • If 1 position is available, we can allow 3 submissions at one time. • 18 months exp. required, however please refer to job description for any exceptions made depending on the unit • License: Must be in hand prior to start date. Temporary licenses may be obtainable once perm license applications have been submitted. • 2 supervisor references required

Local Rules: • Accepted: Surgical Services positions, Allied positions, and IU Clinics will accept local travelers • Eligible local travelers will be offered the in-state rate at lower BR • Not accepted: For MS, MS Tele, PCU, ICU, and ER positions, locals are not accepted • Floating is 100% required of ALL TRAVELERS - Candidates will float within hospital or to an affiliate hospital/s near by • Certs required please see job description/unit description to find list of required certs depending on unit • No specific charting required for any IU health positions • Background Policy to be noted prior to submission so we can seek approval prior to offer • Any PERM or PRN employee of IU must be away for 12 months before applying as a traveler
Consecutive Contract Policy: Current or past IU travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment anywhere within IU Health are required to take a designated break to reset travel eligibility effective 2/24/26. This break must be taken in one consecutive period and cannot be split up under any circumstances. Please see AM for additional clarification if needed. • Out-of-state residents: require a 3 month/90 day break to reset eligibility prior to the traveler s year mark • In-state residents require a 6 month/180 day break to reset eligibility prior to the traveler s year mark
