Unit Notes: Department: Med Tele RN • Certifications Required: BLS, Preferred: ACLS • # Beds: 24 Inpatient/can have 10 obs/day surgeries. • Nurse: Patient Ratios: 5-1 for day shift, 6-1 at 11pm. LPNs that work until 11. Team nursing with LPNs: 2:7 ratios. • Common diagnoses: NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, day surgical: Ortho (hips and knees), choles, appys, TURPS-CBI, Small peds population (3/yr) not given to traveler unless prior experience or no other options. • Experience or 'Must have' skills: 1 year experience in MS/MS-Tele experience (Acute Care experience). Prefer experience/ knowledge of TURPS- CBI, Prefer someone with Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 experience. Limited resources onsite (No IV team- MUST be comfortable with IV starts, RT oversees the entire hospital, etc.). • Are RNs required to titrate drips?: No. • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes- charge nurse with an assignment, travelers could be placed as relief charge. • Are there nurse aids on this unit: Yes. • Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes until 6pm daily, then we use telemed. • RT in ICU 24/7: Available 24/7. • RT Equipment: Cpap. • Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Done in ICU daily, basic tele arrhythmia knowledge (physical monitor at nurses desk). • Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hour shifts (0700-1900 & 1900-0700) can't guarantee blocking (consider longer blocks of 6 shifts, when able), but do try to accommodate self scheduling. • Weekend Requirements: Yes, rotation EOW, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. • Holiday Requirements: Yes, 2/3 holidays. • Is there a call or standby requirement?: Yes- opportunity/ potential to be placed on call/ standby. • Floating Requirements: Absolutely must be able to float to like units and patients. • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Solid professional, no specific color. • Unit/Department specific orientation: Yes, computer education day 1 for 8 hrs. and rest of 4 hrs will shadow, day 2 12 hour shift of orientation, day 3 on their own.
