Roles & Responsibilities • Provide high-quality nursing care for patients in the Cardiovascular Care Unit, including STEMI/NSTEMI and CHF management • Monitor telemetry and respond rapidly to arrhythmias and cardiac events • Administer and titrate IV antiarrhythmic medications safely and per protocol • Manage noninvasive ventilation and cardiothoracic postoperative patients transferred from ICU • Perform chest pain rule-out assessments and collaborate with the care team on emergent interventions • Assess and manage peripheral vascular compromise and related wound/limb concerns • Educate patients and families on condition, treatment plan, and discharge needs to support recovery • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including ER and Med/Surg units when floating to accept holds
Qualifications • Active Oklahoma RN license (Compact allowed) • Minimum 2 years of SDU / Step-Down Unit experience (required) • Experience floating to Med/Surg and ER to accept CVCU/Med Surg holds (required) • ACLS certification (required) • NIHSS certification (required) • Comfort with telemetry monitoring and 1:4 patient ratios in a 33-bed CVCU • Experience with cardiothoracic postoperative care, noninvasive ventilation, and IV antiarrhythmic medications preferred
Knowledge & Skills • STEMI/NSTEMI recognition and management • Chest pain rule-out protocols • Telemetry rhythm interpretation and rapid response • Heart failure (CHF) assessment and interventions • Noninvasive ventilation setup and troubleshooting • Post-cardiothoracic surgery patient care after ICU transfer • Peripheral vascular compromise assessment and interventions • Comfortable working in a fast-paced regional referral center environment
