Unit Information: • Beds: 10 LDRP, 2 OBs, 2 Triage • Census? Average patients/day? 7 • Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years LDRP exp • Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, if necessary • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Labor, Triage, Postpartum, Newborn • Patient Ratios: RN: Use AWHONN Staffing Guidelines? 1:2 Inactive labor; 1:1 Active Labor; 1: Couplets
Required Licensure & Certifications: • BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM certification requirements are the same for any of the above position types
Skills required: • Management has approved to accept Postpartum only, L&D or LDRP experience until specified otherwise. • Labor and Delivery Nurse skills - labor management, circulate cesarean sections, Pre-op, PACU, triage, resuscitation of newborns, Pitocin management, epidural management • Ability and willingness to work LDRP setting
Support within the Department: • Scrub tech: set up delivery trays, assist with sections, stock OR, Clean OR, help with charges, equipment cleaning, newborn baths • Receptionist/HUC? No • Charge nurse? Yes • Phlebotomy: Nurses as well as lab draw blood • IV/VAT Team? NA • Resource Nurse? No • RT, 24/7 • OB MD • Anesthesia/CRNA team • Telemetry monitoring: Monitor/recover sections in room unless under general anesthesia
Technology/Equipment: • EMR: Epic • IV Pump: Alaris • Med dispensing: Omnicell • Monitors: Phillips • Unit specific equipment: bladder scanner, IV pumps, fetal monitoring, HUGGS system
Floating: • Within region and scope of practice • Will be required to float per region needs will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice DECLINE if not agreeable • Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH) • If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
Orientation (facility and unit): • NEO • 2 days departmental
Scheduling: • Weekend rotation: every other • No call • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays • RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
