Unit Notes: • Department: OR RN • Common Cases: • GGU: Must be able to circulate General/GYN/Urology/PV cases including bowel resections, laparoscopic cases, daVinci Xi cases, urology (open & scope), peripheral vascular, bariatrics, GYN (open and vaginal), c-sections, lap appy & lap chole. • ORTHO: Must be able to circulate ortho cases, total joints with or without MAKO robot (knees, hips, shoulders, ankles), arthroscopy & ortho trauma. Also c-sections, lap appy, lap chole and bowel resections. • NEURO/ENT/ORAL/PLASTICS: Must be able to circulate Neuro/ENT/Oral/Plastics cases such as: trach, ENT (T&A or BMT or FESS), plastics, breast reductions, spine fusions, laminectomy, crani, facial fractures, Laryngoscopy/Bronchoscopy, neck dissections. Also c-sections, lap appy, lap chole and bowel resections. • SPECIALIZED in the following 4 groupings: • Ortho • Neuro/ENT/Oral/Plastics • CV-T (they also help cover Peripheral Vascular) • General/GYN/Urology/Peripheral Vascular. • Scrubbing required - RN's: No. • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Both, There is always a charge RN in the OR. We are staffed 24/7/365 with a minimum of one RN and one ST. • OR techs: Yes. • EMR: Cerner. • Weeknight/Call Requirements: 1-2 nights per week from end of shift to 0700. • Weekend/Call Requirements: 1 weekend approximately every 5-6 weekends. • Holiday/Call Requirements: At least 1 holiday per year. • What is call response time?: Call team 1 = 30 minutes. Call teams 2 through 4 = 45 minutes. • Floating Requirements: Yes, to the Outpatient Surgery Center across campus. • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Provided via Cintas vending, no cost, navy blue. • Unit/Department specific orientation: Yes, you get 2-3 days with our educator to cover all the basics plus CBTs. You also get 1-2 weeks of cases you need to learn flow or get cases you aren't as familiar with.
