Registered Nurse - CVU schedule set by manager, every other weekend; guaranteed 36 hours/week
Roles & Responsibilities • Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients on the Cardiac/Vascular Unit • Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to detect and act on changes quickly • Titrate IV drips (e.g., amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epinephrine, diltiazem) safely and per protocol • Respond promptly to emergencies and crisis situations as part of the unit’s protocol-driven team • Collaborate with cardiology, cath lab, EP, thoracic teams and remote tele-monitoring techs to coordinate patient care • Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity of care and clear communication • Educate patients and families about conditions, procedures, and recovery plans with empathy and clarity • Float to same or lower acuity areas as needed while maintaining standards of care and teamwork
Qualifications • Active RN license (eligible to submit) — bring your clinical skills and license • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be current at time of submission) • Minimum 1 year of experience caring for cardiac/stepdown/CVICU patient population • Comfortable with telemetry interpretation and IV medication titration • Must pass an open-book orientation exam with a 90% score (it’s fair — you get the resources!) • Willingness to comply with unit policies (e.g., no artificial nails in patient-care areas)
Education • Active RN license required. BSN not required.
Knowledge & Skills • Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation • IV medication titration and hemodynamic management • Familiarity with EPIC electronic charting system • Experience with cardiac populations including post-surgical, cath lab, EP and structural heart patients • Basic competency with respiratory support equipment (BiPAP/CPAP/nasal cannula troubleshooting) • Strong critical thinking, prioritization and emergency response skills • Clear communication and teamwork across multi-disciplinary teams and remote tele-monitoring techs
