Roles & Responsibilities • Monitor and interpret telemetry and ECG strips to detect and respond to cardiac changes • Titrate drips safely and accurately (amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epinephrine, diltiazem and more) • Provide intermediate care for downgraded CVICU and stepdown cardiac patients • Collaborate with cardiology, hospitalists, intensivists and the multidisciplinary team for excellent patient outcomes • Troubleshoot respiratory support equipment such as BiPAP and CPAP and escalate as needed • Document care clearly and efficiently in EPIC to maintain continuity and compliance • Act as a patient educator and advocate during recovery and discharge planning • Float to units of same or lower acuity when needed to support the team
Qualifications • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state required) • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be current at time of submittal) • Minimum 1 year experience caring for cardiac/stepdown or similar patient populations (note: some system fields list 2 years) • Experience with telemetry interpretation, drip titration, and cardiac/stepdown nursing • Comfortable using EPIC for charting and documentation • Drivers license required at time of submission (radius rule applies) • Must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity) • Willingness to complete unit orientation and pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and float as needed
Education • BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills • Telemetry and ECG/strip interpretation • Cardiac nursing fundamentals including management of CHF, A fib RVR, CVAs and post-op thoracic patients • Drip titration and vasoactive medication management • Familiarity troubleshooting BiPAP/CPAP and basic respiratory support • Proficiency with EPIC charting system • Ability to read and act on tele/monitor data independently
