REQUIRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP: • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Years (It is a challenging and very busy unit - must have similar experience with ratios/acuity). • Traveler Experience: Unit WILL ACCEPT 1st Time Travelers • Locals Accepted / Rate Difference: Yes • Skills: IV Start and Telemetry, pre and post procedure patients cardiac pts., cardiac drips, PCICerts: ACLS, BCLS and NIH.
JOB DETAILS: • Target Ratios: 1:5-6. Could fluctuate based on unit needs, but travelers must be comfortable taking 6 patients. surge. • Unit will accept 13 Week Contracts! • 36 Hours ONLY!! • Shift: 12 HR DAYS; 06:45 - 19:15 • ***NO BLOCK SCHEDULING*** • Call Requirement: Yes; Frequency of on-call depends on patient census. • Float Requirement: YES. The frequency of on-call depends on the patient census. • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period is required.
PATIENT DIAGNOSES: We are the primary cardiac and stroke unit. Stable pre/post care for pacemaker implantation, implanted carioverter/defibrillators, and cardiac catheterization, TR bands. Post uncomplicated interventional peripheral vascular procedure/cardiac interventions without sheaths(s). Non-rebreather mask with stable O2 saturation (must be on pule ox, Unstable angina, low risk chest pain evaluation, CHF, Dysrhythmias, All NEW CVA, TIA patients. Run multiple drips: Cardiazem, Dopamine, Amiodarone, etc.
SPECIAL PROCEDURES / UNIT DETAILS: Can titrate cardizem drips Should be used to a fast passed unit. We typically turnover 78 to 90 patients a week. That means a nurse with a 6 patient assignment can end up turning over their complete assignment and starting over. We do have the addition of a team lead to assist with admissions and discharges. **Unit currently houses COVID positive patients with the use of opti-flow and BIPAP.** **The high side (23) bed side of CTU is a covid unit that takes patients on opti-flow and acute Bipaps during a covid surge.

Special Equipment : *****CARDIAC Telemetry experience required - PCU experience also helpful***** Multiple Cardiac gtts are utilized on this unit for patient population. Management of medicated drips is a requirement. ***Must have a teamwork approach and meet Novant behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff. Must be able to adhere to Call off policy -STRONGLY ENFORCED.

Submission Details: Any previous PERM / PRN / EP staff employee of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler. Please note in the submission packet if your candidate previously worked here, the hospital name and dates of employment. Facility rehire approval is needed. We cannot proceed with any offer until rehire approval is obtained. Failure to disclose this information will negatively impact your candidate and may result in a cancel. Novant runs their own check on each traveler upon hiring, so we need to notify them beforehand. Current travel Per Diem clinicians at Novant Health or New Hanover are ineligible for travel assignments. Working both simultaneously is not accepted. Clinicians must select either travel Per Diem or a Travel Contract. Please indicate in the submission packet if your candidate is currently in a travel Per Diem role at this Health system and if they wish to transition to a Travel Contract. RTO - We can auto approve 7 days of RTO or less as long as it does not fall on a holiday. Anything more requires facility approval. Candidate MUST WORK 2 out of 3 major holidays. No RTO allowed during the first week of a traveler's assignment due to orientation. NC or Compact license pending OK for submission. Required in hand at time of start. Candidates may float within hospital or to an affiliate hospital nearby - Please refer to the job description for floating details. It is common for travelers to float to other units based on their skill sets and based on census. Candidate must be comfortable floating based on the job description with no restrictions or special requests. Travel Pairs - Allowed but MUST be submitted for and work on different units. Must be called out in the submission if your clinician is part of a travel pair. Charting Exp Required - Epic is most common. Please review the specific job posting for details. References - Pending references at time of submission OK. Required at time of start.
