Our Client is currently seeking Telemetry for positions in Shreveport, Louisiana for a 3x12 Nights, 19:00:00-07:00:00, 12.00-3 shift. The ideal candidate will possess a current Louisiana license. This is a RN position in the 6West. You must have a Nursing License and at least 2 years of recent experience as a RN Telemetry. General Information: • Beds: 18 • Years of Experience: 2 years • Will accept a first-time traveler: First time travelers must have 2 years of perm staff RN experience in acute care • Travelers must be separated for 1 year if previously a perm staff
Patient Types: This is a brand new Medical Surgical/telemetry unit for this growing facility. There are many educational opportunities available to travelers • Sepsis • Cellulitis • DVT/PE • CHF • COPD • COVID • PNA • Post Op Overflow: occasionally we will see Total Joints (Knees, Hips, Shoulders); GI/Abdominal surgeries (Hemicolectomies, Bowel Resection, etc.)
Patient Ratios: • RN: 1:5-6, nights 1:6 • CNA: 2 per shift, unless census does not call for it
Required Certifications: • BLS • ACLS • NIHSS
Skills required: • Traveler will be required to PASS an EKG competency exam as part of compliance, prior to arrival (includes MedSurg RN) • Wound management • JP drains • wound vacs • Hemodialysis Catheter care • Fistulas • PCA • pain management
Support on the Unit: • Charge nurse: typically free floating • HUC/Secretary Day Shift only • Phlebotomy in house, RN draw CVL/PICC/Midline • IV/VAT Team available 7a-3p (PICC placement) • RT in house • Hospitalist available in house for most patients • OT, PT, ST
Floating: • Units: any Med/Surg area within the hospital • Travelers float first
Orientation: • 2-4 day hospital orientation • 2 days on unit orientation, depending on experience
Scheduling: • Weekend rotation: every other • Will work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week this is mandatory • Can we approve time off? Up to 7 days must extend 1 week for every full week requested off • DECLINE if more than 7 days of RTO-do not send for manager approval • May only request (1) weekend of RTO per 13-week contract • Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? No call • Holiday Expectations: will work 2/3 holidays
Other notes: • Scrub Color: Pewter • T-shirts must be gray, white or black with WK monogram (they are at scrub shops and inexpensive) • Jackets must be gray or black • Badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times • Parking: Free parking in designated areas
