Our Client is currently seeking ED - Emergency Department for positions in Shreveport, Louisiana for a 3x12 Nights, 19:00:00-07:00:00, 12.00-3 shift. The ideal candidate will possess a current Louisiana license. This is a RN position in the ER. You must have a Nursing License and at least 2 years of recent experience as a RN ED - Emergency Department. General Information: • Beds: 19 single beds, 6 Fast Track • Years of Experience? 1 year ED experience • Will Accept a First-time traveler? First time travelers must have 2 years of perm staff RN experience in acute care • Perm staff must be separated for 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types: • Ages: Newborn Geriatric • All ED patients to include but not limited to: • MS patients Respiratory Distress, Diabetics, GI bleeds, COPD, general MS • Stroke/NIHSS Ischemic and Hemorrhagic • Some Cardiac CHF, dysrhythmias • Minor traumas MVAs, Falls, etc • Psych/Mental Health/IVDA/ETOH • ER holds: MS, Peds, Stepdown, ICU
Patient Ratios: • RN: 1:3-4 • CNA: varies due to staggering shifts; 1 7a, 1 11a, 1- 7p
Skills required: • Traveler will be required to PASS an EKG competency exam as part of compliance, prior to arrival (includes MedSurg RN) • Critical thinking, IV starts, medication administration, dosage calculation, basic nursing skills, self-motivation, gtt management
Support on the Unit: • Charge nurse: Pt assignment depending on staffing • Phlebotomy - In house • IV/VAT Team for PICC/midline placement • Resource Nurse, staffing dependent • RT, 24/7 • Hospitalist available, 24/7 • ER educator M-F
Orientation: • 2 days of general hospital • 2 days on the unit, at least one day during dayshift
Scheduling: • 8-week schedules • Will work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week this is mandatory • May work 3/2 or 5/2 rotations, for example: 2 on 2 off, 5 on, 5 off • Start time: 7A, 9A, 11A, 12P, 13P • Weekend rotation: every other weekend • Can we approve time off? Up to 7 days must extend 1 week for every full week requested off • DECLINE if more than 7 days of RTO-do not send for manager approval • May only request (1) weekend of RTO per 13-week contract • Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? No call
Holiday Expectations: • will work 2/3 holidays
