Roles & Responsibilities • Provide compassionate med/surg nursing care for primarily adult patients and occasional pediatrics using the Nursing Process • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care while coordinating with interdisciplinary teams • Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes, and take decisive action to ensure patient safety • Manage admissions, observations, swing bed and outpatient needs with thorough documentation and clinical judgment • Collaborate with Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead and Nursing Supervisor to maintain smooth unit operations • Lead and support peers during your shift, fostering teamwork and positive patient outcomes • Participate in emergency response and adhere to hospital policies, including required immunizations such as the flu shot
Qualifications • Current Vermont RN license or valid multi-state RN license • Minimum 3 years of acute care experience (Med/Surg strongly preferred) • BLS (American Heart Association) required • ACLS certification required • Meditech experience preferred • Ability to upload all required credentials at least five business days prior to start • Willingness to treat primarily adults with occasional pediatric patients (NOT pediatric-only RNs) • Flu shot required, no exceptions
Knowledge & Skills • Med/Surg nursing and strong patient assessment skills • Care coordination and clinical decision-making using the Nursing Process • Experience with inpatient care, outpatient observation and swing bed workflows • Critical thinking, time management and effective prioritization on night shift • Familiarity with electronic health records (Meditech preferred) • Excellent communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams • Clinical leadership experience and the ability to support unit objectives
