Night schedule assignment (day or night) is usually known a week or two in advance. Hours per NRP and PALS preferred for neonatal/pediatric care Experience with Epic charting systems required Comfortable floating between departments and flexible scheduling required Familiarity with trauma level I or II settings preferred Ability to complete a 40-hour orientation and integrate into the team quickly
Education • Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program (Associates or Bachelors) preferred • Active RRT credential required
Knowledge & Skills • Ventilator management including weaning strategies • High frequency jet ventilator and high frequency oscillator operation • Pressure/volume ventilator management and oscillating ventilators • BiPAP, CPAP, bubble CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) • Troubleshooting high pressure alarms and alarm management • Airway management skills including intubation assist and extubation • Tracheostomy care and suctioning (ETT, NT) • Interpretation and drawing of arterial blood gases (ABGs) • Spirometry and pulmonary function basics • Familiarity with Epic electronic charting
