Roles & Responsibilities
• Decontaminate surgical instruments and scopes thoroughly to maintain patient safety
• Assemble and organize surgical instrument sets accurately for OR cases
• Perform sterilization processes and quality checks to meet regulatory standards
• Reprocess endoscopic scopes following manufacturer and facility protocols
• Support Operating Room procedures (including GI and ortho cases) by delivering timely, prepared trays and instruments
• Respond to on-call requests within the required 30-minute window to support urgent cases
• Collaborate with the OR team and interim SPD Manager to improve workflows and instrument availability
• Help integrate new equipment into SPD practice, including work with the Da Vinci robotic system

Qualifications
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) — required (HSPA credential noted)
• BLS (AHA) certification — required
• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing / SPD experience
• Experience with scope reprocessing and instrument assembly in an acute care OR setting
• Familiarity with EPIC charting preferred
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to meet facility radius requirements (60 miles)
• Able to respond to call within 30 minutes and work scheduled weekend/holiday call

Knowledge & Skills
• Sterile processing best practices and decontamination workflows
• Instrument assembly and sterilization techniques
• Scope reprocessing for GI and other endoscopic procedures
• Operating Room environment and case support (ortho, gyn, general, GI)
• Experience or willingness to learn robotic instrument care (Da Vinci)
• Charting basics in EPIC and accurate documentation
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and clear communication under time pressure
