Surgical Tech possible shift times: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Typical schedule blocks: Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday. Call required: one 8-hour call shift per week (weekday call 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) with additional 8-hour weekend call coverage as scheduled.
Roles & Responsibilities • Prepare and maintain the sterile field and surgical instrumentation with meticulous attention to detail • Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons efficiently to support smooth operative flow • Assist the surgical team across trauma, orthopedics, vascular and general surgery cases • Perform counts and document perioperative activities accurately in the charting system • Ensure equipment is inspected, sterilized and ready for each case to maximize patient safety • Respond calmly and effectively during trauma activations and high-acuity scenarios • Collaborate with nurses, surgeons and anesthesia providers to optimize patient outcomes • Participate in orientation and ongoing competency assessments to maintain high standards
Qualifications • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA required • BLS certification required • Minimum 2 years of surgical technologist experience (perioperative/OR experience preferred) • Familiarity with OR protocols, sterile technique and perioperative care • Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts and participate in call rotations • Ability to complete required orientation hours as scheduled
Education • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA
Knowledge & Skills • Perioperative care and sterile technique mastery • Operating Room (OR) workflow and instrument knowledge • Experience with trauma, orthopedics, vascular and general surgery cases • Charting and documentation experience (Cerner experience noted) • Strong situational awareness, teamwork and communication under pressure • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain composure during emergency cases
