Our Client is currently seeking CVOR Technologist for positions in Peoria, Illinois for a 4x10 Days, 06:30:00-17:00:00, 10.00-4 shift. The ideal candidate will possess a current Certification in Illinois. This is a CVOR Tech position in the SFMC - Open Heart Surgery Tech type:Cardio OR (Cardiovascular Operating Room). Unit Notes: • OSF ITEMS OF NOTE: • Local Rate: Applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles • OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift • Non-billable Orientation Hours: 12 hours, guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation • REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION: • Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated • Your candidate understands OSF is a Drug-Free Campus and they must produce a negative drug screen for all panels • Department: Open Heart Surgery | CVOR Tech • # Suites: CVOR runs 2-3 rooms each day. • Average # of cases per day: 1-3 cases per day. • Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?): BLS, traveler to have completed a surgical technologist (not technician) program with a minimum of 2 years experience primary scrubbing open heart cases. • Common Cases: We are a level 1 trauma center and encounter complex cardiothoracic and vascular cases. Typical cases include CABG, valve repair/replacement (AVR, MVR, TVR), Bental, aortic dissections, ECMO, Ventricular assist device (VAD) implants, TAVRS (typically standby if percutaneous, unless needed for cutdown), Carotid endarterectomy, peripheral vascular bypasses, amputations, traumas (vascular, cardiac, thoracic), thoracic cases (thoracotomy, VATS), tracheostomy. **We are accredited to start heart transplants but have not completed one yet. **Open heart cares for the congenital pediatric open heart surgeries as well. Congenital peds experience is not mandatory but definitely preferred. • Experience or 'Must have' skills: The traveler must have a minimum of 2 years primary scrub in complex open heart procedures. • Scrubbing required - RN's: No • Is there a Charge Nurse &/or House Supervisor on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Primary charge nurse works M-F 0630-1500, does not take call, helps give breaks/lunches. House supervisor 24/7. • OR techs?: CVOR team is made up of nurses and surgical techs, nurses learn how to scrub as well (RN Traveler would not be required to scrub). • EMR: Epic • Shifts & Scheduling: CVOR team has four 10 hour shifts (0630-1700) Monday through Friday. Nights on call (1700-0630), weekends on call (Friday 1700 to Monday 0630) and holidays (full 24 hours day of holiday) are covered by call only. • Weeknight/Call Requirements: On call shifts required for nights, weekends and holidays (times stated above). The amount of call is dependent on staffing. Typically 1-2 weekends a month and 2 nights a week. Holidays can be included if applicable during contract. • Weekend/Call Requirements: The amount of call is dependent on staffing. Approx every 3rd weekend. Holidays can be included if applicable during contract. Weekends on call (Friday 1700 to Monday 0630). • Holiday/Call Requirements: Holidays can be included if applicable during contract. Holidays (full 24 hours day of holiday) are covered by call only. • Floating Requirements: If CVOR has low census, team members are expected to float within the department of surgery (general, ortho, neuro, peds, SPD). • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Surgical scrubs are provided with locker room to change. Personal lock required for locker. • Unit/Department specific orientation: Orientation includes 1 day in the office for mandatory education and then 2-5 days CVOR specific orientation to location, surgeon preferences and procedure types. • Additional Notes: The traveler must have a minimum of 2 years primary scrubbing complex open heart proceudres. Assisting experience is preferred but not mandatory. Traveler will primary scrub cases off of a phalan table setup. Traveler needs to help within the OR outside of their sugical tech role by helping second circulate the room when not scrubbed in.
