Roles & Responsibilities • Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures with precision and a steady hand • Prepare and set up instruments, equipment and supplies prior to each case so everything is ready when the surgeon is • Maintain impeccable sterile technique and speak up immediately about any breaks in asepsis • Operate and demonstrate competency with electro-surgical, diagnostic and video equipment • Collaborate with Sterile Processing, Endoscopy and Materials Management to ensure smooth workflows • Communicate clearly with the circulating RN and surgical team to promote patient safety and efficiency • Ensure all specialty-specific and disposable equipment is on hand and functioning before cases begin
Qualifications • Certification as an OR Surgical Technician is required • Current CPR certification required • Ortho experience is required — you’ll be supporting orthopedic cases regularly • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation including weekday and weekend coverage • Demonstrated sterile conscience and competence with OR procedures and instrumentation
Knowledge & Skills • Sterile technique and strong aseptic practice • Surgical assisting and operating room procedures • Instrument and equipment setup for multiple specialties • Experience with sterile processing and endoscopy workflows • Safe operation of electro-surgical, diagnostic and video equipment • Comfortable handling disposable and specialty surgical equipment • Good communication and teamwork skills to support fast-paced OR care
